Make no mistake: Mortgage lending discrimination is a crime. If you think you’ve been discriminated against, there are steps you can take, including filing a report with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

As he approaches 70 years old, Mr. Darby closed on his first home last month.
